The African Young Orators is a public speaking/oratory competition designed for students between the ages of 16 and 21 to inculcate the basic imperatives of effective communication; ultimately impacting improved leadership skills, development of poise, and accurate word usage. It allows students to develop their critical thinking and communication skills through its unique method of orators choosing their own topic, which is related to the overall theme.
This programme emphasizes the importance of communication because being erudite begins with communication, and communication entails the transaction of ideas, using words and symbols as a fundamental platform.
The African Young Orators is about leadership that is empowered through education, with inspirational attitude to bring about development, which showcases the strong connect that leadership and learning are indispensible to each.
